DPR Is Still Waiting For President Jokowi To Send A Surpres For The Candidate For TNI Commander
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has not sent a presidential letter (Surpres) regarding the candidate for the TNI Commander in Chief. News from the Palace stated that President Jokowi had prepared a draft presidential letter proposed by the TNI commander candidate and was just waiting for the time to be sent to the DPR.
Responding to this, Deputy Chair of the DPR for Political and Security Sector (Korpolkam) Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus, said that there was still time for President Jokowi to determine the name of the candidate for TNI commander and send a Surpres to the DPR.
According to him, the President can decide on the name of the candidate to replace the TNI Commander either before the DPR RI recess which will take place on October 7, or after the recess period until November 8, 2021.
"Pak Hadi Tjahjanto retired November 9, 2021. De jure, he was born on November 9 and officially retired December 1," Lodewijk said at the DPR building, Monday, October 4.
"So there is also a long time. But we hope that before December 9 we have a new TNI Commander," he continued.
Lodewijk ensured that the fit and proper test process for the TNI commander proposed by President Jokowi would take place quickly in the DPR taking into account the current situation and conditions.
"There are times when we discuss the issue, fit and proper tests, inauguration, we have time. After the recess period until December 1, when he retired as a TNI soldier," said Lodewijk.
It is known that the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto will retire on November 8, 2021.
There are three candidates to replace Hadi Tjahjanto, namely the Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Yudo Margono, Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) Andika Perkasa, and Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force, Air Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo.
