Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives for Political and Security Affairs, Lodewijk F Paulus, explained that the election of Ecuador and Brazil as the goals of the DPR's Baleg kunker was due to the success of controlling violence against women there. Previously, the Indonesian Parliamentary Concerned Community Forum (Formappi) criticized the plan of the Legislative Body of the House of Representatives to conduct overseas working visits to Ecuador and Brazil.
Formappi researcher Lucius Karus asked the DPR Baleg to cancel the plan because it was deemed useless, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
According to Lucius, the working visit abroad seemed unclear because the reason was in the context of implementing the parliament's diplomatic function to strengthen the Legislative Body's institutional structure in the context of drafting the Bill on the Elimination of Sexual Violence (PKS).
"The aim is not clear, the sentences are convoluted. The long sentence containing the purpose of going abroad is seen as a strategy to deceive the real purpose of the work, which is without a goal, without a mission. " Lucius told reporters on Thursday, September 30.
