Reliable Analyst Says Apple Will Not Bring IPad Air OLED Next Year, Here's Why!

JAKARTA - Remember the rumors about Apple bringing the iPad Air with an OLED screen? As it turns out, it will not happen in the near future nor in 2022.

According to reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it was because of Apple's concerns about quality and cost that did not meet the company's expectations. Now Apple has chosen to focus on the production process of the iPad Air with an LCD screen. In fact, the OLED screen allows the tablet to look more real.

This means that the iPad Air 5 will continue to differentiate itself from the iPad Pro, which comes at a more affordable price thanks to an LCD screen.

Apart from that, Kuo also has some more information to share in his notes with investors. Apparently the next 11-inch iPad Pro will still get mini-LED technology, the same on the screen that's currently available exclusively on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

Part of another reason, Kuo stated that Apple has canceled its iPad Air‌ OLED is because it might hurt sales of the upcoming 11-inch iPad Pro‌ with a mini-LED display. He said that the cost and performance of the iPad Air with an OLED display was not up to Apple's standards.

However, Apple still seems to be looking for newer display technologies for all the tablets in the iPad line. A report last week also revealed that Apple and Samsung have scrapped their joint plans to develop an OLED display for the updated 10.9-inch iPad Air.

Today the iPad Air is known to have bridged the gap between the cheaper iPad and the iPad Pro, and for many it is a good choice in terms of specs and design. Will Apple be able to strike that balance again in 2022? Yes, we still have to wait for this confirmation.
