PON Papua - Basker Match Delayed By 2 Hours Due To Power Outage

JAKARTA - The implementation of the XX Papua PON basketball match at the Mimika Sport Complex (MSC), Mimika, on Sunday, was delayed for two hours due to a power outage.

To reporters in Mimika, the technical delegate for PON XX Papua basketball, Abdul Rozak, said that the power outage was caused by a fire in the miniature circuit breaker (MCB).

"Actually Freeport (the owner of MSC-red) has the spare components. However, the place to get it is closed because it's Sunday. However, finally thanks to their efforts, the tools have been obtained and immediately repaired," said Abdul Sunday, October 3.

Abdul Rozak confirmed that his party had communicated the situation with all the coaches and managers of the basketball team that competed on Sunday.

Initially, he said that if the electricity had not been turned on for more than two hours, there was an option to reschedule the first match on Sunday, namely the Papuan women's team against South Sulawesi which was supposed to start at 13.00 WIT.

However, it turned out that the electricity was fully on at 14.30 WIT and the Papua and South Sulawesi teams had entered the field to warm up 15 minutes later. The Pool Y match starts at 15.00 WIT.

Abdul Rozak ensured that he would try his best so that a similar incident would not be repeated in the next match.

"I also ask Freeport and PLN to discuss this," said the man who is also the Head of the Competition Division of the Central Board of the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) as quoted by Antara.

The XX Papua PON basketball sport competed in five matches on Sunday (3/10) from the men's and women's groups.

After the Papua vs South Sulawesi women's team, there was the Banten men's team against Central Java, then the Bali women's team against Central Java, and closed with a match between the two men's team candidates, namely DKI Jakarta against West Java.
