If Ronaldo Stays In Madrid, His Ballon D'Or Collection Will Have Increased

JAKARTA - A surprising statement came from the mouth of Cristiano Ronaldo's agent. Jorge Mendes said that if he still played at Real Madrid, his client would get the Ballon d'Or.

The five-time winner of the World Player of the Year trophy has not earned a single individual title since leaving 'Los Blancos' to Juventus in 2018. In the last two editions, the Ballon d'Or was crushed by Luka Modric and Lionel Messi.

Messi even grabbed a record when he won the sixth title in his career last month, beating Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk in second place and of course Ronaldo under Dutch defender.

"Cristiano deserves to win the Ballon d'Or at least once in the last two years," said Mendes. Launch Soccerway, Tuesday, December 17.

"If he plays at Real Madrid, he will win it, but next year I think he can win it again."

Mendes added, for him, Ronalda's failure to win the Ballon d'Or was an injustice. Everyone knows, Ronaldo successfully won the Nations League with Portugal.

"But he knows what he has to do and then we will see what happens in 2020," he stressed.

Yes, Ronaldo has enjoyed his football career. He won five Champions League trophies, Euro 2016, Premier League, Serie A, La Liga and Nations League. For that, Mendes did not hesitate to praise his client as the best player.

"Cristiano for me is the best player in the history of world football," said Mendes.

Portugal before Cristiano, continued Mendes, did not win anything. With Cristiano they have won the European Cup and Nations League, (while) in 2004 they were also finalists in the European Championship.

"He changed world football. We are talking about Portugal, a small country that has changed a lot thanks to Cristiano."

This season, Ronaldo has scored 11 goals in all competitions for Italian champions Juventus, nine of which have been scored in Serie A.
