Graffiti Vandalism Urges Mayor Sutiaji To Resign On Malang Streets, Police Intervene

MALANG - Malang City Police Chief AKBP Budi Hermanto confirmed that he would investigate the vandalism of graffiti inscribed with urging the Mayor of Malang Sutiaji to step down which was found in a number of urban locations.

The scribbles were written in Malang's typical walikan language, namely "Mayor of Tewur City, Mundur Ji!' which means that the mayor is complicated and asked to step down. Currently, the scribbles have been erased by Satpol PP.

“Of course (the provocative vandalism) we will investigate. We are still in the investigation stage," said Buher, his nickname was confirmed, Friday, October 1.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Order and Peace, Rahmat Hidayat, said that his party is currently coordinating with the Transportation Agency to find the perpetrators through CCTV camera monitoring.

"We are still checking CCTV camera footage at a number of vandalism locations," he said.

According to Rahmat, the perpetrators can be charged with Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2021 concerning Public Order and the Environment.

"You can get a maximum imprisonment of 3 months and a fine of Rp. 10 million," he continued.

The streak was discovered this morning. After combing, there were 4 locations with similar inscriptions, namely at the National Institute of Technology (ITN) Crossroads, Rajawali Intersection, and Basuki Rahmat Street, and the mayor's official residence.

Rahmat estimates that this action will take place in the early hours of Friday. Because Thursday, September 30, the scribble has not been found.

"My guess is midnight," he said.
