Guntur Romli 'Kepret' PKS On Recommendation Of Polygamy With Widows, That's The Fate Of Sharia If Politicized
JAKARTA - Tazkirah Number 12 concerning Solidarity Affected by the Pandemic issued by the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) caused a stir. Not a day before the regulation was issued, PKS hastily revoked it.
One of the points that made Tazkirah criticized was the recommendation for polygamy for male PKS members who were able and ready to have more than one wife.
One of the strongest criticisms came from the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) politician, Mohamad Guntur Romli. According to him, the recommendation for PKS polygamy is to hide behind sharia.
"When issuing the polygamy recommendation, PKS took refuge behind sharia, not even a day, they revoked it," tweeted Guntur Romli via his Twitter account, @GunRomli quoted Friday, October 1.
"Many are asking: how come sharia only lasts a day? How come sharia can be revoked? That's the fate of sharia when it is politicized. In fact, it has a bad image," he quipped.
Chairman of the Sharia Board of PKS Surahman Hidayat in his release apologized for the publication of Tazkirah Number 12 for making noise and hurting people's hearts.
Surahman admitted that PKS is open to receiving input and criticism from the public. As for the criticisms directed at PKS, among others, stating that polygamy is a private sphere and should not be used as a political commodity, let alone a political program.
