Ministry Of Law And Human Rights: One Employee At Tanjung Gusta Prison In Medan Has Been Proven To Have Been Abused By Prisoners
MEDAN - Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kakanwil Kemenkum HAM) North Sumatra Imam Suyudi/ Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kakanwil Kemenkum HAM) North Sumatra Imam Suyudi mentioned one employee at the Class Penitentiary (Lapas) IA Tanjung Gusta Medan was proven to have abused an inmate (inmate). This case has gone viral on social media.
"One employee is proven," said Imam, at the North Sumatra Representative Ombudsman's Office in Medan, quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 30.
Imam said the officer concerned is currently still undergoing further examination and guidance.
"We pulled it to the regional office for us to do coaching," he said.
Imam claimed to have instructed all prison leaders to be more optimal in monitoring security in the prison environment.
In addition, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights asked prisons to provide socialization to residents about their rights and obligations while in prison.
"In addition to completing facilities and infrastructure which are actually not optimal, but also strengthening employees and residents regarding rights. If residents behave well, there will be rewards and vice versa if they behave badly, there will be punishment," he said.
Previously, the persecution of an inmate at the Class IA Tanjung Gusta Penitentiary, Medan, went viral on social media (medsos).
The video shows an inmate saying that his colleague was beaten for not giving money to the officer while showing his colleague's bruised back due to alleged abuse.
