Bobby Nasution Prepares To Normalize Medan's Bedera River, Land Acquisition Budget Reaches IDR 71 Billion

MEDAN - The Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Medan City said that land acquisition to normalize the Bedera River is estimated to cost Rp. 71 billion.

The head of the Medan City Bappeda, Benny Iskandar, said that of the total budget, Rp. 58 billion was for land acquisition for residents in this area.

"The Medan City Government itself has prepared a budget of IDR 35 billion for land acquisition in the Medan area. Our budget is already 'ready' when the appraisal process is completed," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 30.

The Sumatra II River Region Center, he continued, is currently conducting a study of the three normalized rivers, namely the Bedera River, Deli River and Babura River.

"The first river to be normalized is Bedera. This river has many areas affected by flooding," he said.

Recent developments, he explained, the North Sumatra Provincial Government will make location determination and determine land price assessments before land acquisition is carried out.

The land acquisition for residents to normalize the three rivers in the Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, he stressed, was not carried out by the Medan City Government.

"For the lack of budget for land acquisition in the Medan area, it is hoped that there will be a budget disbursement from the North Sumatra Provincial Government," said Benny.
