The Happy Faces Of The Central Java Contingent Participating In The Papua PON, Ganjar Pranowo: I Will Watch My Friends' Struggle Live

SEMARANG - Happy faces radiated from Central Java athletes when they were dispatched to take part in the XX/2021 National Sports Week (PON) match in Papua, Thursday, September 30.

Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo directly supervised the departure of the contingent from Central Java departing from Ahmad Yani International Airport, Semarang City.

The departing contingent consisted of athletes from various sports such as softball, pool diving, shooting, bodybuilding, rowing, aeromodelling, chess, and fencing. Apart from athletes, officials, medical officers, and security officers also departed. Before leaving, Ganjar motivated the athletes and said he would directly escort the athletes while in Papua.

"I will watch the struggles of my friends live, become a live supporter tomorrow, just fight for the best," said Ganjar, who then greeted and chatted with the athletes, reported by Antara.

While chatting with bodybuilding athletes, Ganjar was shocked when he was told that the athlete consumes two kilograms of meat every day.

"Two kilos at a time? You deserve this big body," he said.

Ganjar also briefly greeted the shooting athletes who had just won medals at the 14th Asian Shooting Championship in Kazakhstan, namely Muhammad Iqbal Raia Prabowo and Arista Perdana Putri.

The Central Java contingent targets to win 45 gold medals at the XX/2021 Papua PON by sending as many as 651 athletes and coaches who will compete in 39 sports.
