Yasonna To Maruarar Sirait: Be Sincere, Bang Sabam, We Are Inherited Politics Is Sacred
JAKARTA - Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly asked Maruarar Sirait, the eldest son of Sabam Sirait, to announce the departure of the PDI-P political figure. So that Sabam Sirait's legacy of sacred politics will continue to be carried out by his successors.
"I said earlier to Ara (Maruarar Sirait) as the eldest child, we will accept Bang Sabam," Yasonna said at the Sabam Sirait funeral home, Thursday, September 30.
"What we inherit is his upbringing as a political figure to make politics a tool of goals, politics is sacred," Yasonna continued.
Last November 2013, Sabam Sirait had launched a book entitled 'Politics is Holy' to commemorate his political journey. The event was attended by many great figures.
For Yasonna, Sabam is a teacher of politics. The man who was born on October 13, 1936, was also the one who encouraged Yasonna to enter politics, especially the PDI -- before becoming the PDI-P.
"So Bang Sabam is one of the people who taught me politics. He taught me many things, about simplicity, consistency, integrity and said that politics is sacred," he said.
Sabam Sirait will turn 85 on October 13. Sabam Sirait died at Siloam Hospital Karawaci, Wednesday, September 29. He had been suffering from lung disease for the past two months.
