The Figure Of Sabam Sirait In The Eyes Of Anies Baswedan: He Is An Activist Who All His Life For The Struggle Of The People
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan took the time to visit the funeral home of Sabam Sirait who died, Wednesday, September 29.
Anies Baswedan mourns the death of a senior politician and founder of PDIP. Anies has the highest respect for the figure of Sabam Sirait. Because, during his life, Sabam devoted himself to fighting for the community.
"I personally have very high respect for Pak Sabam, he is a young activist who throughout his career has been for the struggle for the community, active in various organizations," said Anies at the funeral home, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 30.
In fact, said Anies, at a young age, Sabam still devotes himself to society. Namely, Sabam fights for the community through the DPD DKI Jakarta route.
"He is the most senior member of the DKI Jakarta DPD and it shows an extraordinary fighting spirit, exemplary, high spirits always work hard," said Anies.
Thus, said Anies, Sabam is a person who should be followed. "(He) maintains a relationship with anyone," said Anies.
Anies previously told about the figure of Sabam Sirait who was familiar to his family. Where the deceased is a friend with his grandfather since decades ago.
Anies also hopes that the bereaved family will be given patience. Don't forget to be reminded to always maintain the good name of Sabam Sirait.
"He continues to be listed as a useful person, hopefully the family will be given the strength of fortitude and at the same time continue to maintain the great name of the late Sabam Sirait," said Anies.
Sabam Sirait was inaugurated as a member of the DPD RU on January 15, 2018. Sabam Sirait replaced the DPD member from DKI Jakarta AM Fatwa who died in mid-December 2017.
Sabam Sirait, who was also a senior PDIP politician, died at the age of 85. Sabam Sirait was born on October 13, 1936 on Simardan Island.
Sabam Sirait first entered politics from the Indonesian Christian Party (Parkindo). Then Sabam Sirait became Secretary General of Parkindo for the period 1967-1973.
Then, Sabam Sirait took part in the formation of the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) and signed the declaration of the formation of the PDI on January 10, 1973.
Sabam Sirait was Secretary General of the PDI for three terms. Namely the period 1973-1976, the period 1976-1981, and the period 1981-1986.
Furthermore, Sabam Sirait also co-founded PDIP in September 1998 and became a member of the PDI-P Central Advisory Council in 1998-2008.
Sabam Sirait, the recipient of the Mahaputera Star, has been in the Parliament.
Sabam became a Member of the Gotong Royong DPR (DPR-GR) for the period 1967-1973, a Member of the DPR RI for the period 1973-1982, a Member of the DPR RI for the period 1992-2009, and a Member of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) for the period 2019-2024. Sabam has also been a member of the Supreme Advisory Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPA-RI) for the period 1983-1993.
