228 Bandar Narcotics Prisoners Moved To Nusakambangan

JAKARTA - As many as 228 drug drug convicts were transferred to Nusakambangan Prison, Cilacap, Central Java by the Directorate General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Ditjen PAS Kemenkumham)

Director General of PAS of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Reynhard Silitonga, in an official statement said that 228 drug dealer convicts previously served sentences in various places. Such as in Jakarta, Yogyakarta and West Java.

"228 Bandar prisoners have been transferred to Nusakambangan Super Maximum Prison," said Reynhard Silitonga in an official statement quoted on Sunday, July 19.

This transfer, he said, was carried out in several stages. The first stage was 41 people, the second stage was 44 people and the third stage was 31 people.

The total number of prisoners from the three stages of transfer is 75 people, who are narcotics dealer convicts from the DKI Jakarta area. Meanwhile, Yogyakarta has transferred 22 prisoners.

"And today the West Java region has transferred 90 bandar prisoners to Nusakambagan prison, which are placed in three Super Maximum and Maximum prisons, namely Karang Anyar Prison, Narcotics Prison and Batu Prison," he said.

He detailed, 90 prisoners who were transferred from West Java came from a number of prisons, namely 23 people from Cirebon Class I Prison 23 people, 12 people from Gintung Prison, 13 people from Gunung Sindur Narcotics Prison.

Then, 22 people from Banceuy prison and 15 people from Karawang prison. Of the 90 people, 10 of them were sentenced to life and 5 people were sentenced to death.

"So that a total of 228 Bandar prisoners have been transferred to the Super Maximum and Maximum Prison in Nusakambangan since June 5, 2020," said Reynhard.

Reynhard emphasized that this transfer was a form of commitment from the Directorate General of PAS in supporting efforts to eradicate narcotics in Indonesia.

"And this is a form of our firm commitment to eradicating narcotics from Indonesian soil, especially in prisons and detention centers. Hopefully this transfer will reduce the circulation of narcotics in Indonesia, our beloved country, "he said.
