Landslide In Lubuak Paraku, West Sumatra, Interrupted Jalinsum Access
PADANG - Another landslide occurred in the Lubuak Paraku area, Lubuk Kilangan, Padang, West Sumatra, tonight.
The landslide material reportedly closed the Sumatran highway (Jalinsum) that connects Padang-Solok.
"Another landslide happened tonight, a team from BPBD has been deployed to the scene," said Padang Barlius, Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), quoted by Antara, Wednesday, September 29.
Barlius said his party had also coordinated with the PUPR service to deploy heavy equipment to the scene.
"The landslide material in the form of mud and soil is high enough to cover the road, so heavy equipment is needed for cleaning," he said.
Barlius estimates that if the heavy equipment arrives, the clearing of the landslide material will take about an hour at the site.
The night landslide was bigger than the one that occurred in the afternoon at around 16.30 WIB in the same area.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Lubuk Kilangan Police, AKP Lija Nesmon, said that his party had deployed personnel to the scene.
"Personnel have been deployed to the scene to provide security and coordinate with relevant agencies," he said.
On the other hand, BPBD urges the public to remain careful when doing activities or driving when it rains with high intensity.
