Extreme Weather During Transition, BMKG Urges Ambonese To Be Vigilant
AMBON - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Class II Meteorological Station Pattimura Ambon appealed to all people in the area to be aware of the potential for extreme weather during transitions.
"Extreme weather has the potential to occur during the transition season, starting from rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds," said Head of the Observation Section of the BMKG Meteorological Station Class II Pattimura Ambon, Wilhelmina Paays, in Ambon, Antara, Wednesday, September 29.
A number of areas in Maluku, especially Ambon City, are still in the rainy season, while October is in the transition to summer.
The characteristics of transition, among others, are marked by rapidly changing weather, thunder and lightning. For a number of areas in Maluku, the weather is still under analysis.
He said the weather conditions in several areas in Maluku have been in the rainy season since May, while the transition season will take place in October. For areas in Southwest Maluku (MBD) the rainy season will enter.
The results of the last analysis, weather conditions are not too significant for the next few days.
Analysis of air humidity in the upper layer of 850-700 mb, shows that the conditions are humid to wet, which is in the range of 70-100 percent, while the sea surface temperature anomaly in the Maluku region has warmed in the past week, ranging from 1-3 degrees Celsius.
The sea surface temperature indicates an increase in the supply of water vapor, which contributes to the growth of rain clouds in the Maluku region, especially in the West Seram region.
