BATAM - The Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Riau Islands Police together with the Tanjungpinang Police have succeeded in uncovering a murder case that occurred in Tanjungpinang City in early September 2021.
The Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Harry Goldenhardt, said that the Joint Team arrested two suspects in the crime of murder, AR alias AK and ZU alias J.
"The two suspects planned to rob and kill the victim with the initials Z, who is the boss of suspect ZU because of the motive of being hurt and wanting to control the victim's property," said Harry in Batam, Wednesday.
The incident began with suspect ZU who knew victim Z had just made a large transaction. The suspect was tempted to take possession of the victim's property.
So he plans a robbery and murder of Z, and invites AR to help.
On Sunday 5 September 2021, the suspect went to the victim's house to accompany her to buy goods. The victim was driving his vehicle, along with the two suspects. On the way, the suspect AR snared the victim's neck until he died. The suspect buried the victim in the vicinity of the Tanjunguban Sutet Tower. The two suspects then drowned the victim's vehicle in Blue Lake, Bintan, and took away the victim's assets in cash of Rp. 200 million stored on the dashboard, nine million from the victim's pocket, and Rp. 60 million from the victim's savings.
The disclosure of the case stems from a public report regarding the presence of a car in Blue Lake on September 23. Upon investigation, it turned out that the vehicle belonged to Z, who was also reported missing and the police received the report on September 8, 2021.
"On the discovery of the victim's car, investigators conducted a deeper investigation and it was known that the suspects with the initials AR alias AK and ZU alias J were the last people to meet and go with the victim," he said.
And in the investigation, AR and ZU have left Tanjungpinang and are in Riau.
The team immediately moved and arrested AR in Teluk Bunia, Pelangiran District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province, then detained ZU in Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau Province.
"The total amount of money that the suspects managed to take from the victim was IDR 260,000,000 and several assets have been bought by the suspects, namely houses and several two-wheeled vehicles whose whereabouts are still being tracked by investigators," said the Head of Public Relations.
The evidence that was secured was a house in Indragiri Hilir, a car and its keys, a nylon rope about two meters long, a hoe, two cell phones, two savings books, an NPWP card, two ATM cards and Rp5,000,000 in cash.
The suspect is suspected of Article 340 of the Criminal Code and Article 338 of the Criminal Code with the threat of capital punishment or life imprisonment.
