The Release Of Djoko Tjandra From Entering And Leaving Indonesia Is Evidence Of The Weak Intelligence Of The Attorney General's Office

JAKARTA - Djoko Tjandra, a fugitive episode of the transfer of Bank Bali claim rights, has entered a dramatic period in the last two months. The fugitive from the Attorney General's Office since 2009 is known to have walked into Indonesia freely last June without being noticed and registered a case review (PK) at the South Jakarta Court.

So, why have the fugitives who have been chased since 2009 be able to get out and enter Indonesia so smoothly?

Former Director of Investigation at the Attorney General's Office, Chairul Imam, spoke up. He assessed that it is easy for big fugitives like Djoko Tjandra to enter and leave Indonesia not because of the games of certain groups, but because of the weak intelligence oversight of the AGO.

"Because they were weak, they finally missed it. I'm not saying the game but the weakness of the intelligence (Attorney General's Office), evidence of weakness in regulations so that this happened," he said in a virtual discussion entitled Ironi Djoko Tjandra & the Corruptor Hunting Team, Saturday, July 18.

Chairul admitted that he was quite confused to see Djoko Tjandra's ease in entering and leaving Indonesia. In fact, the Attorney General's Office should have been able to easily arrest Djoko Tjandra.

Based on Chairul's experience while in the Adhyaksa Corps, the Attorney General's Office can bring in fugitives even from countries that do not have an extradition treaty even with Indonesia.

"I see this has been conceded. Because several times we brought in fugitives from abroad and even from countries or places that do not have extradition agreements with us, we can succeed. So I don't know why now, I myself have a long time ago. outside the prosecutor's office, "he said.

Not only that. Chairul said it was easy for this big fugitive to enter Indonesia because the gates to the country were not strictly guarded.

Moreover, said Chairul, as a maritime country with waters wider than the mainland, there are many mouse roads that can "support" Djoko Tjandra easily walk to Indonesia or vice versa.

"Entering Indonesia is actually something that is not too difficult. Just try from Singapore to Kuching (Malaysia), you can enter through West Kalimantan, Pontianak. You can also go through the rat road in Riau from Singapore, maybe you go through Tanjung Balai. "Tanjung Batu has a lot of smuggling boats that can be boarded," he said.

Chairul said that even fugitives could also use a cargo ship which would later lean on Pantai Mutiara and then be picked up by a speed boat. "So it is not easy to monitor (the entrances), it is difficult. But it must be done," he explained.

Law enforcement slap

On the same occasion, the former Deputy Chief of Police who now serves as the people's representative in Commission III of the Indonesian Parliament, Adang Daradjatun, raised his voice regarding the correspondence polemic that left fugitive Djoko Tjandra. He considered this a harsh slap to law enforcement institutions. Moreover, dragging the police is a shame.

"I honestly say that it is very embarrassing that there has been a case involving members of the National Police," he said.

When investigated to what extent Adang knew about this case, he chose not to leak the communication between himself and the Criminal Investigation Unit and the Police Propam. Andang argued that he did not want to go beyond what the police had said regarding this case.

Furthermore, Andang admitted that he was worried that if this case was an individual act, the problem currently being faced was about moral.

"I will not go beyond what he said. Currently, he is still in the process of investigating, indeed talking about morals. I am afraid that this is part of this most organized activity that I fear the most. If this has happened in a case like this," he said.

Then, Andang was also reluctant to explain when asked if the Djoko Tjandra case involved many aspects such as two stars and one Polri Institution, it means that there is a big power.

"Again, I said, this is still in the process. I don't want to go too far into this. But every day I talk to the Criminal Investigation Unit, Propam because I will see sitting as a member of the council and if it turns out that this case has been organized and entered into pindana. do that action, "he explained.

Andang emphasized that currently the Indonesian people are very critical in responding to a case. So, there is no room for the police to play to cover up cases.

"Now we can't anymore, our society is critical, our society is able to speak. So if the police are still closed to openness, it will end there," he said.
