Merchants In Makassar Buy Toyota Rush Using Gallon Savings

MAKASSAR - Little by little, gradually became a hill. This proverb seems appropriate to describe the married couple Asriadi Syamsuddin and Ratna.

A grocery trader in Makassar City, South Sulawesi, bought a Toyota Rush using the change he had saved for three years.

"I saved this money for three years, I also didn't think it could be this much. Indeed, this change came from buyers and the change came from wholesalers after shopping for store needs, then I collected it," Asriyadi said during a transaction at the Toyota Hos Cokroaminoto Dealer, Makassar quoted Between, Tuesday, September 28.

This story begins when Asriyadi sees a lot of coins piled up. He then collected it in an empty gallon.

Meanwhile, the source of the change was obtained from shopping change at wholesalers and buyers.

Asriyadi did not expect the coins he had collected for three years to have several gallons. The change that was saved varied from Rp. 500, Rp. 1,000, to Rp. 2,000 and after calculating the amount, it was enough to buy a car.

This resident of Pajenekkang, Bontoala District, initially intended to buy a car, but had no money. He also took the initiative to only collect the change from the rest of the change and from the buyer. But unexpectedly collected so much.

Asriyadi went to the car showroom asking if he could buy a car with spare change. The car showroom employee said he could as long as the money was decent. He also gave a sign that it was Rp. 10 million, then the next day brought the nine gallons of change.

"The purpose of collecting small change is not just saving it. We did intend to buy a real car, because shopping is difficult if you use a motorbike, so I intend to. Finally God granted today. Three years of collection, the amount is more than Rp. 160 million," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Toyota Cokroaminoto Branch Ariefyanto Arsjad on that occasion stated that it was the first time buying a car using small change had happened in his place. He also accepted the money because it was a legal tender, even though it was widely counted.

"We serve all consumers everywhere, as well as this we serve, because of our tagline, all services are easy," he said.

The money the couple made, he said, contained nine gallons of coins in the Rp500 and Rp1,000 denominations. Meanwhile, the Rp2,000 banknote is in several boxes. Coins after being calculated were Rp. 55 million and Rp. 2,000 as much as Rp. 107 million, a total of Rp. 162 million.

"They want to buy a Toyota Rush minibus for Rp. 271 million. Mr. Asriadi has booked (signed) Rp. 10 million when he first arrives. The rest (payment) will be added when the car is handed over, they will pay," added Arief.
