COVID-19 Update As Of July 17: Accumulation Of Cases Almost Overtakes China
JAKARTA - Government spokesman for the handling of COVID-19 Achmad Yurianto (Yuri) explained that there were an additional 1,462 confirmed positive cases as of Friday, July 17 at 12.00 WIB. The total number of positive cases became 83,130 people.
As of today, the accumulation of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia has almost overtaken the number of COVID-19 cases in China. Judging from the website www.worldometers.info, the total cases of the country that had the first coronavirus patients stood at 83,622, with an increase of 10 cases today.
Then, 84 people died per day, bringing it to 3,957 patients. There were an additional 1,489 patients recovered, bringing the total to 41,834 patients.
Yuri said that currently the government has eliminated the use of the terms patient under surveillance (PDP) and person under surveillance (ODP). Now, the term used is suspicion group.
"Our monitoring of the suspected cases has reached 46,493 people," said Yuri at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Friday, July 17.
The province with the highest number of new cases today is East Java with 255 new cases and a total of 17,829 cases. East Java is the province with the highest case accumulation in Indonesia.
Then, provinces with other high new cases are in DKI with 253 cases and a total of 15,889 cases, Central Java with 238 cases and a total of 6,366 cases. South Kalimantan with 101 cases and a total of 4,722 cases
Furthermore, a high number of new cases was also in Bali with 86 new cases and 2,619 total cases, North Sumatra with 83 new cases and a total of 2,776 cases, and South Sulawesi with 83 new cases and a total of 7,713 cases.
Of the 34 provinces that reported, 18 provinces reported new cases under 10. Of these provinces, 6 of them reported that today there were no new cases added.
"Provinces that report no new cases are Bangka Belitung, West Kalimantan, Riau Islands, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi and East Nusa Tenggara," he said.
Furthermore, the total number of specimens that have been examined has accumulated as many as 1,175,462. In detail, 1,146,282 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 29,180 specimens were examined using a molecular rapid test (TCM).
"The number of specimens that have been obtained is 29,176 specimens," Yuri explained.
This examination was carried out in 176 active RT-PCR laboratories, 117 TCM laboratories, and 308 network laboratories. The rate of positive cases was 12.2 percent of all examinations carried out.
