Ganjar Pranowo Ready To Implement Megawati's Directives On Disaster Mitigation
SEMARANG - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, who is also a PDI-P cadre, is ready to carry out the directives of the PDIP Ketum Megawati Soekarnoputri regarding mitigation and preparedness for disaster management in vulnerable areas.
"Ready to carry out directives, even disaster-prone areas in Central Java have been mapped out for a long time," said Ganjar after attending the online opening of the PDI-P Building Management Training, in Semarang, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, September 28.
According to Ganjar, Megawati's direction to regional heads, party structures, DPRD members from the PDI-P, and the PDIP Agency for responding to disasters is a good step, and the timing is right if implemented in Central Java so that all party cadres must be ready to be trained.
"I think it's very good. First, the training included how to read BMKG information every day, that was the request of Mrs. (Megawati Soekarnoputri, ed.) every day. Second, the 'early warning system' with only traditional warnings, for example kentongan, giving nature codes or if the Javanese say 'science of titen'. Then it is revived again, the party cadres move it," he said.
Meanwhile, during the event, Megawati Soekarnoputri gave directions on the importance of disaster preparedness, not only regarding the early warning system, but also how to respond to an emergency, react quickly, and be on target if a disaster occurs.
Megawati also briefly highlighted several areas in Central Java that were considered prone to landslides and floods because of the many mountains and rivers.
Responding to this, Ganjar revealed that his staff had long mapped disaster-prone areas in Central Java.
Central Java BPBD, Ganjar continued, held a meeting a few days ago to map disaster-prone areas such as preparedness in mountainous areas such as the ex-Kedu Residency to the west to the ex-Banyumas Residency.
The mapping also leads to lower areas as well as anticipation if the landslide is not completed, it is suspected that there will be a release of water that will cause inundation or flooding in low-lying areas.
"The warning that Mrs. Mega gave earlier included flood-prone areas. Semarang Raya is also prone to flooding, Solo or around Bengawan Solo is also prone. Then we can check that all major rivers like Elo can also be prone to flooding," he said.
In this preparedness, Ganjar continued, the PDI-P should be ready and must coordinate with local governments, as well as SAR, PMI, TNI, Polri, up to BNPB and BPBD.
