Megawati: I Am Very Confident That Jokowi Can Solve The COVID-19 Problem

JAKARTA - Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Megawati Soekarnoputri believes that President Joko Widodo's government and Ma'ruf Amin can survive the COVID-19 outbreak well. Mega believes that Jokowi and Ma'ruf will be able to take Indonesia off this virus well.

"I firmly believe that the leadership of Mr. Jokowi-Ma'ruf and his entire cabinet will be able to solve the problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic," said Mega on the sidelines of the announcement of PDI-P's regional head candidates, Jakarta, Friday 17 July.

Mega emphasized that as a party supporting Jokowi-Ma'ruf in the election, he would give full support for the policies taken by the government. Especially related to handling COVID-19.

"Especially if we as the main bearers of the two of them can continue to move downward in a solid consolidation," he said.

Not only support for the government, he said, PDI-P will also ease the burden on the government in overcoming this problem. "We will not forget to help the people wherever the people are," he said.

Meanwhile, since first entering Indonesia in March 2020, positive cases of COVID-19 are currently increasing. As of July 16, positive cases have reached 81,688 people.

Meanwhile, 3,873 people died as a result of this case. Meanwhile, 40,345 patients recovered. The government has made various efforts in handling this case.

The government has also examined specimens. A total of 1,146,794 people have been examined. In detail, 1,118,157 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 28,637 specimens were examined using molecular rapid test (TCM).

This examination was carried out in 161 active RT-PCR laboratories, 117 TCM laboratories, and 303 network laboratories. The rate of positive cases was 12.2 percent of all examinations carried out.
