Lodewijk F. Paulus Freeway Becomes DPR Leader To Replace Azis Syamsuddin
JAKARTA - The Council's Honorary Court (MKD) just has to approve DPR Commission I Member Lodewijk F. Paulus to become the Deputy Speaker of the DPR for Political and Security Coordinator (Korpolkam) replacing Azis Syamsuddin.
Deputy Chairperson of the DPR MKD, Habiburokhman said Lodewijk had been proposed to replace Azis, who now has to deal with the law after being named a suspect in a bribery case by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
"I heard that the Golkar party has decided, if I'm not mistaken, Pak Lodewijk will replace Pak Azis," said Habiburokhman at the DPR Building, Tuesday, September 28. Furthermore, Habib said, the name of Azis' replacement will be submitted through the Deliberative Body (Bamus) and brought to the plenary meeting of the DPR. Meanwhile, the MKD only has to agree because there are no more ethical and honor issues regarding Azis Syamsuddin which have been handled by the KPK.
"That will be conveyed through the Bamus. The MKD only needs to approve it because there are no more ethical and honor problems. From the Bamus it is determined in the Plenary Session," explained the Gerindra politician.
Habiburokhman said, Azis Syamsuddin had resigned in writing as Deputy Speaker of the DPR. So that automatically his status is no longer the leader of the DPR RI which will be decided by the Golkar Party faction.
"I think this is the administration, in principle it can be believed that the person concerned resigned as deputy chairman of the DPR. Later the mechanism, of course, if he does not resign when he enters the trial, he becomes an automatically inactive defendant, but because he has resigned first then just wait for the process at the Golkar party, " " he concluded.
