Police Arrest Dozens Of People In The Aftermath Of Riot Demonstration To Reject The HIP Bill In The DPR
JAKARTA - Demonstrations against the Pancasila Ideology Proposal Bill (RUU) in front of the DPR / MPR RI Building area ended in chaos. A number of people were arrested in connection with the riot.
Director of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Tubagus Ade Hidayat, said that 20 people were arrested from this incident. The majority of those arrested were children.
"There were (the masses who were secured). If there are a total of 20 people, only mostly children," said Tubagus, Friday, July 17.
Tubagus added that those arrested were not from the demonstrators. They were arrested for throwing at officers.
However, he did not explain the continuation of those arrested.
"What is clear is that (what is being secured) is not from the labor section, not from the student section, nor from groups that reject HIP," said Tubagus.
Throwing on the police
Circulating on social media videos showing a group of mobs pelting a member of the Traffic Unit police. The incident was also said to have occurred during a demonstration in front of the DPR / MPR RI building area.
In the video uploaded by the Instagram account @jokersupriadi, a police officer can be seen controlling the flow of traffic. But suddenly appeared and approached the police officers.
They pelted the police officer. The police can avoid and stay away from the masses.
However, the crowd threw at the police car, which was parked right on the shoulder of the road. As a result, several parts of the car were damaged.
Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Director, Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, said that in the incident, its members did not suffer serious injuries. However, the car that was targeted was damaged in the back because it was pile of rocks.
"Alhamdulillah, my members were not hit, the only thing that was hit by the car, the rear glass was broken," said Sambodo.
With the incident, his party coordinated with the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation to find the perpetrators of the stoning and vandalism.
"We're still looking for the person, it's not easy to find. But we're still looking for the person," said Sambodo.
