Good News! Ambon City Government Has Closed 4 Field Hospitals Due To The Increasingly Sloping COVID-19

JAKARTA - The Ambon City Government has closed four field hospitals, namely Hotel Wijaya, Everbright, Garuda Inn and LPMP as the COVID-19 recovery rate increases.

"As of last week, we have closed all field hospitals in the city of Ambon and currently the field hospital belonging to the Maluku Provincial Government is the Hajj dormitory," said Ambon Mayor Richard Louhenapessy in Ambon, Tuesday, September 28, as quoted by Antara.

He said the closure of all field hospitals gave a strong indication that the development of COVID-19 cases in Ambon was getting under control and was declining further.

The decline in cases can be seen from the COVID-19 recovery rate in Ambon City, the confirmed rate of patients is 8,854 people, 8,651 people have recovered, 39 people have been treated and 164 people have died.

"Until last week there were only four patients who were being treated centrally. We have transferred them to the Hajj hostel, the field hospital belonging to the Maluku Provincial Government," he said.

He admitted that the closure of the field hospital was carried out to reduce the burden incurred by the Ambon City Government to pay the rent for the centralized quarantine location.

Ambon City is currently in the yellow zone or low risk on the risk map for the spread of COVID-19 in Maluku Province, after previously being in the orange zone (medium risk).

Richard reminded, even though Ambon has entered the yellow zone, the implementation of health protocols must still be a commitment, accompanied by the implementation of vaccinations.

"Let's continue to apply the 5M health protocol, while following vaccinations to achieve herd immunity," he said.

He is optimistic that this week, vaccination in Ambon City will reach 70 percent of Ambon City residents.

"On September 26 yesterday, vaccination in Ambon City had succeeded in reaching 69.1 percent or 189,358 people from our target of 274,000 people. I am optimistic that we will reach 70 percent," he said.
