Smugglers Smuggled Smuggled Methamphetamine In Bread In Custody At Surabaya Prison, Finally Caught

SIDOARJO - Officers from Lapas I Surabaya in Sidoarjo, East Java, managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle illegal goods suspected of being methamphetamine in bread.

"Based on the surveillance of the prison's CCTV, an unknown person put a package wrapped in a cardboard box in front of the porter's door. An alleged perpetrator wearing a black jacket and a red hat put the cardboard box without confirming to the officers," said Head of the East Java Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, Krismono, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, 27 September.

A few moments later, said Krismono, a resident with the initials BA approached the main gate guard (P2U). The man, who has been free for two years, has been a companion prisoner in prison.

"He mentioned that there was a food package for one of the employees who was placed in front of the porter," continued Krismono.

However, he continued, the officer was suspicious because previously there was no confirmation from the employee mentioned by BA. The P2U officer then confirms to the employee mentioned by BA. However, the employee admitted that he did not order any packages and the officers became increasingly suspicious.

"Officers then opened one by one the contents of the package, starting from biscuits, coffee, sugar to mattress bread," said Krismono.

There are two packs of mattress bread in the package wrapped in the mineral water box. However, who would have thought that each one contained a package of white crystalline powder wrapped in a plastic clip similar to powdered sugar.

"We immediately secured the BA and carried out further investigations," said Head of Surabaya First Headquarters Gun Gun Gunawan in his statement.

Gun Gun said BA admitted that he was asked by another inmate with the initials SG. The 35-year-old man admitted that he was given a salary of Rp. 400 thousand. Furthermore, the prison has coordinated with the police and is currently in the process of being interrogated to deepen the case.

"We together with the police will bring the evidence to the laboratory to weigh and confirm the items," said Head of the KPLP Surabaya Prison Gatot Harisaputro separately.
