Police Revealed Smuggling Of 2,820 Bottles Of Balinese Arak In Malang With Expedition Services

MALANG - Malang City Police have thwarted the circulation of illegal Balinese Arak that entered Malang City. A total of 2,820 bottles were secured from the hands of the expedition service.

Malang City Police Chief AKBP Budi Hermanto said that the initial disclosure of this case was obtained from information from residents on September 6 about the expedition service in Malang City being caught transporting wine with 40 percent alcohol content.

“After we arrived, it was true that there were thousands of bottles of alcohol in the trunk of the bus. In total there were 1,620 bottles that we secured in revealing the first case,” explained Buher, Budi Hermanto's nickname at a press conference, Monday, September 27.

The police then took action on 2 expedition service employees with the initials SR (31) and KH (23).

"We will be penalized for them in the form of fines and imprisonment," he added.

The second disclosure was made on Saturday, September 25. The police found a suspicious pickup on Jalan Kaliurang.

The police stopped the car. When examined and searched, the police found 50 boxes of Arak Bali liquor in a pickup truck.

“'Each box contains 24 bottles of 1.5 liters of wine with a total of 1,200 bottles. Finally, we secured the driver IS (31) and the kernel MS (44). They are residents of Jember," said Buher.

However, the police did not arrest the two because it was known that they only served as couriers making deliveries. "At that time they were only in transit and would send to other areas," he explained.

Police are still investigating the origin of this Balinese wine. When searched, the mobile number and return address are not clear.

"Apart from that, we will not give mercy to people who commit violations that can trigger security disturbances, especially alcohol can cause people to commit crimes and damage the younger generation," he concluded.
