Blind Jealousy, Man In North Sumatra Pours Hard Water On His Girlfriend's Body Until He Dies

MEDAN - A young man in North Sumatra has the heart to pour hard water on the body of an underage woman who is also his girlfriend. As a result of the perpetrator's actions, the victim died.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Deli Tua Police, Iptu Martua Manik, said the perpetrator was Putra Nakula (26), a resident of Jalan Sejati Gang Imam, Sarirejo Village, Medan Polonia District.

"The perpetrator poured hard water on his girlfriend named Syahbila Nur Rohima (15) until the victim died," said Iptu Martua, Monday, September 27.

Martua said, due to the perpetrator's actions, the victim suffered burns all over his body.

"The suspect did that out of jealousy and wanted to teach the victim a lesson," he said.

Martua explained that the incident began with the suspect's arrival at the victim's house on Sunday, September 26 afternoon. The suspect had eaten at his girlfriend's house, who was still a student.

After finishing eating, said Martua, at night the suspect returned to his house which was not far from the victim's residence, took hard water.

"Then the dangerous liquid was hidden by the suspect near the radiator of his motorcycle," he explained.

The suspect then took the victim around the city of Medan until they finally arrived at Jalan Station Suka Makmur Village, Deli Tua District, Deli Serdang Regency.

"At the TKP (the crime scene) the suspect pretended that the tire of his motorcycle was not inflated, then poured hard water on the victim's body," explained Martua.

The hard water makes the victim in pain. The suspect then took the victim to his home.

The victim's parents immediately took their child to the hospital and referred to Mitra Sejati until the poor girl was declared dead.

When asked by the victim's parents, the suspect said that his girlfriend was doused with liquor by an unknown person. The case was then reported to the Deli Tua Police. Based on the police investigation, the murder was carried out by the suspect Putra Nakula out of jealousy.

Deli Tua Police Chief AKP Zulkifli Harahap said the perpetrators would be charged under Article 338 or Article 340 of the Criminal Code.

"For committing the murder of a minor, child protection can be imposed and can be subject to Article 338 or 340. The sentence can be above 20 years," said AKP Zulkifli.
