East Java Police Arrest South African International Network Methamphetamine Dealer

SURABAYA - The East Java Regional Police team arrested four perpetrators of shabu-type drug dealers from South Africa. The four suspects of the international drug network, each with the initials DS, RZ, ST and FK.

"These suspects were successfully arrested at the Jakarta-Tangerang Toll Rest Area KM 14 Karang Tengah, on Tuesday, July 6, 2021," said Head of Sub-Directorate II of the Narcotics Directorate of the East Java Police Kompol James at the East Java Police Headquarters in Surabaya, Monday, September 27.

According to James, the arrests began when the East Java Police's Narcotics Directorate received information from the public regarding the delivery of methamphetamine from South Africa to Surabaya's Juanda Airport. The police immediately coordinated with the Juanda Airport Customs and Excise officers.

However, after tracking, the methamphetamine was not sent via Juanda Airport, but was sent via Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang City. The officers then coordinated with the Soekarno-Hatta Customs and Excise officers.

"It turned out to be true, the methamphetamine package was sent through Soekarno-Hatta Airport, put in a modified suitcase. Soekarno-Hatta Customs officers gave the two suitcases to officers from the East Java Police Directorate of Drugs," he said.

After that, continued James, the officers then carried out delivery control for the recipients of the package, holding a meeting point at Rest Area KM 14 Karang Tengah, Jakarta-Tangerang Toll Road, Tangerang City. Arriving at the location, the perpetrator RZ took the package and transferred it to another car.

"After the package was transferred to his car, the officers finally secured the suspects RZ and ST. Who then also arrested other suspects, namely, DS and FK," he said.

The suspect in the investigation said the methamphetamine would be handed over to the owner of the goods named Juragan alias Eman. Currently, he is still being searched, his status is on the Wanted List (DPO).

In addition to arresting the suspect, officers also confiscated evidence in the form of two plastic packages containing methamphetamine weighing 4,067 grams, two red suitcases and a black Datsun car with Nopol AB 333 LT.

For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 114 Paragraph (2) of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, Article 112 Paragraph (2) of Law No. 35 of 2009. And Article 132 Paragraph (1) of Law No. 35 of 2009.
