JAKARTA - Ferdy Yuman as a relative of the former Secretary of the Supreme Court, Nurhadi, was charged with 7 years in prison plus a fine of Rp. 400 million, subsidiary of 6 months in prison for obstructing the KPK investigation.
Ferdy is known to have helped Nurhadi and his son-in-law Rezky Herbiyono to avoid being questioned by KPK investigators regarding the legal case that ensnared the two.
"Demanding that the panel of judges at the corruption court (Tipikor) declare that the defendant Ferdy Yuman is proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption. Sentencing the defendant with a prison sentence of 7 years plus a fine of Rp. 400 million, subsidiary of 6 months in prison," said the prosecutor. Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the KPK Wawan Yunarwanto at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor), reported by Antara, Monday, September 27.
Ferdy's actions were deemed to have complied with the actions of Article 21 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
There are a number of aggravating and mitigating things in Ferdy's actions.
"The aggravating thing is that the defendant's actions do not support the government's program in eradicating corruption, the defendant's actions are very contrary to the principles of the rule of law, the defendant is convoluted and does not admit his actions. The mitigating thing is that the defendant has never been convicted," said the prosecutor.
Ferdy is known to be Rezky Herbiyono's cousin, who since 2018 has worked as a driver and Rezky's confidant who takes care of the needs of Rezky and Nurhadi and their families.
For this work, Ferdy received a salary of Rp. 20 million per month from Rezky Herbiyono.
On December 6, 2019, a warrant was issued for the investigation of corruption in the receipt of gifts or promises made by Nurhadi together with Rezky Herbiyono and the act of accepting gratuities related to positions.
Three summons by the KPK against Nurhadi and Rezky, namely on December 13, 2019, January 3, 2020 and January 23, 2020, were not fulfilled, so on January 28, 2020, the KPK issued arrest warrants for Nurhadi and Rezky.
Investigators then visited the residence and other locations suspected of hiding Nurhadi and Rezky, but they were not found, so on February 11, 2020, investigators submitted the issuance of a wanted list (DPO) to the Police on behalf of Nurhadi and Rezky.
Ferdy is known to have prepared a house or residence, namely at Jalan Simprug Golf 17 Suites 1 Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, which was used as a means by Rezky Herbiyono and Nurhadi to hide and at the same time store items that were used as a means by the suspect to avoid being investigated by the KPK.
Ferdy also takes care of and fulfills all the daily needs of witnesses Nurhadi and Rezky Herbiyono and their families, even though they know that the status of witnesses Rezky Herbiyono and Nurhadi are suspects and DPOs by the KPK.
In May 2020, investigators received information on the whereabouts of Nurhadi and Rezky, then on June 1, 2020, a team of investigators came to the location to make arrests.
However, upon arrival at the location the defendant was prepared to wait in front of the gate of the house using a Toyota Fortuner car numbered B-1187-Q with the vehicle engine running as an attempt to escape Nurhadi and Rezky Herbiyono, but before it was carried out, Ferdy saw the team's car. The KPK investigators approached and immediately started his vehicle so that the investigators were not overtaken and then Ferdy returned to Surabaya.
Investigators then searched the house and found Nurhadi hiding in one room, and Rezky hiding in another room so that Nurhadi and Rezky could be secured and brought to the KPK.
