Update On COVID-19 Per July 16: Cases Cured Nearly Half Of Positive Cases
JAKARTA - Government spokesman for the handling of COVID-19 Achmad Yurianto (Yuri) explained that there were an additional 1,574 confirmed positive cases as of Thursday, July 16 at 12.00 WIB. The total number of positive cases became 81,668 people.
Then, the number of patients who died per day increased by 76 people, bringing it to 3,873 patients. There were an additional 1,295 recovered patients, bringing the total to 40,345 patients. Currently, the number of cured cases is almost half of the accumulated positive cases.
Yuri said that currently the government has eliminated the use of the terms patient under surveillance (PDP) and person under surveillance (ODP). Now, the term used is suspicion group.
"Our monitoring of the suspected cases has reached 46,727 people," said Yuri at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Thursday, July 16.
The province with the highest number of new cases today is DKI Jakarta with 312 new cases and a total of 15,636 cases.
Then, provinces with other high new cases are in Central Java with 214 cases and a total of 6,128 cases, East Java with 179 cases and a total of 17,574 cases. East Java is the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.
Furthermore, a high number of new cases was also in South Sulawesi with 178 new cases and 7,630 total cases, South Kalimantan with 133 new cases and a total of 4,621 cases, Bali with 112 new cases and a total of 2,533 cases, and North Sumatra with 97 new cases and a total of 2,693 cases.
Of the 34 provinces that reported, 17 provinces reported new cases under 10. Of these provinces, 6 of them reported that today there were no new cases added.
"Provinces that report no new cases are Bangka Belitung, Jambi, North Kalimantan, Riau Islands, Central Sulawesi and East Nusa Tenggara," he said.
Furthermore, the total number of specimens that had been examined was accumulatively as many as 1,146,794. In detail, 1,118,157 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 28,637 specimens were examined using molecular rapid test (TCM).
This examination was carried out in 161 active RT-PCR laboratories, 117 TCM laboratories, and 303 network laboratories. The rate of positive cases was 12.2 percent of all examinations carried out.
