Twitter Officially Embeds Topics Feature In Spaces, Making It Easy For Users To Find Their Interests!
JAKARTA - Following its successful test run last month, Twitter has now officially launched the Topics feature in Spaces, which allows the platform to highlight Spaces chats more relevant to users, and potentially expand the reach of audio broadcasts.
By setting the topic of conversation, the admin room will find it easier to get participants with the same topic interest. This feature was first announced last Friday through the @TwitterSpaces account. It is explained that this feature is only present on Android, while iOS will be present in the near future.
“When creating or scheduling Spaces, some of you on Android can select up to 3 Topics to tag from our list of top 10 Topics. But those are just 10 Topics for now and we'll expand on them as we build together. English only (also for now!), iOS soon," tweeted @TwitterSpaces.
Quoted from Social Media Today, Saturday, September 25, the topic feature will appear when users want to create or schedule Twitter Spaces. When creating a room, they can choose three of the 10 topics available there.
These topics include Business, Finance, Music, Sports, Technology, Games, World News, Entertainment, Arts, Culture, Home, Family and Careers. All these topics are also user-selectable to follow and get related content on their timeline.
Then the Twitter algorithm will make Room Spaces easy to find by other users, who have the same interests as the topic. This feature can of course maximize the reach of Spaces, by showing people ongoing broadcasts based on the topics they are interested in in the app.
However, this feature is quite important because apart from Spaces being an attractive option nowadays, it is also easier for users to find their interests.
Adding the Topics feature to Spaces brings it closer to how Clubhouse works, which also has a variety of topics to explore and clubs that users can join based on those topics.
Twitter has been continuously updating Spaces since it started testing late last year. In recent months, the company has also started rolling out Ticketed Spaces and adding more discoverable and moderated options.
To be honest, if Twitter is to maximize the social use of its audio, and increase engagement through Spaces broadcasts, it also needs to attract celebrities or other public figures, and in doing so will help increase the number of listeners, and subscriptions based on Spaces content.
