Minister Of Transportation Ensures The Readiness Of Transportation Facilities To Support XX PON In Papua
JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi reviewed a number of transportation infrastructure facilities and infrastructure prepared to launch the XX National Sports Week (PON) and XVI National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) in Papua.
The Minister of Bub ensures that the facilities and infrastructure are ready to serve the mobility of the athletes and official teams competing.
"We have built a lot of transportation infrastructure in Papua to support PON and Peparnas activities, and we make sure that everything is going well," Budi said as quoted by Antara, Saturday, September 25.
Budi Karya explained that the Ministry of Transportation together with relevant stakeholders in the transportation sector had prepared a number of infrastructure, both transportation facilities and infrastructure in land, sea and air transportation modes.
In the land sector, the Ministry of Transportation has sent as many as 428 buses to three PON points, namely Jayapura, Timika and Merauke.
The Ministry of Transportation has also prepared 515 bus crews, of which 261 are drivers recruited from Papua Province residents, as a form of empowering the indigenous people of Papua Province and creating job opportunities.
During the PON, the bus operates from 06.00 - 22.00 WIT which is intended for the mobility of athletes and officials. In addition, to pick up the contingent from Sentani Airport.
To support the implementation of Peparnas XVI in Papua which will be held after PON, as many as 160 units of the assistance buses will be modified by making ramp on/off with an appropriate slope, for use by Peparnas athletes who use wheelchairs.
The Ministry of Transportation has also built a number of infrastructures, namely: a jetty and 2 (two) units of water buses to be operated at Lake Sentani, procurement and installation of road equipment, construction of the Type A Entrop Terminal in Jayapura City, and construction of an Area Traffic Control System (ATCS) in Jayapura City. .
In the marine sector, as many as 5 Pelni ships have been prepared to carry the needs of PON implementation (poles, banners, vehicles, kayaks, and so on). The five ships are KM Labobar, KM Gunung Dempo, KM Ciremai, KM Dobonsolo, and KM Sinabung.
In the air sector, the Ministry of Transportation has also prepared 4 airports, namely: Sentani Airport in Jayapura, Mozes Kilangin Airport in Timika, Domine Eduard Airport in Sorong, and Mopah Airport in Merauke.
“I ordered the Regent to take good care of the facilities. These existing transportation facilities will later be useful to support the tourism sector in Papua and its surroundings,” said the Minister of Transportation.
In his review to Jayapura, the Minister of Transportation reviewed a number of points, starting from reviewing the aid buses that had been sent, then to the Jayapura Harbor pier, reviewing the Pelni KM Tidar Ship which since August 12, 2021 has been used as a floating centralized isolation ship at the Jayapura Port, to the Hamadi Stadium. , Papua Trade Center Entrop (PTC) and Ponton Pier.
In Jayapura, the Minister of Transportation also took the time to play soccer with the Persipura Football Team to provide support for the XX PON match.
"We hope that the support of this facility can provide good service for athletes and official teams as well as support the smooth implementation of PON in general. After PON ends, in the context of investment, of course the facilities provided can provide added value, namely improving the quality of service facilities and infrastructure transportation in Papua and its surroundings," he said.
The Minister of Transportation advised that the PeduliLindung application could be implemented in Jayapura, and ensured that all those who came had carried out vaccines and PCR tests.
"I believe Papua can carry out XX PON activities well," he concluded.
Meanwhile, Jayapura Regent Mathius Awoitauw expressed his gratitude for the real support from the Ministry of Transportation in providing transportation facilities and infrastructure.
He appreciated the Ministry of Transportation for responding quickly and assisting the Regional Government in supporting the successful implementation of PON XX.
For information, after the implementation of PON and the National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) in Papua, some of the buses will be used to serve pioneering, urban transportation, the management of which is handed over to DAMRI.
Then a number of other facilities such as water buses, type A terminals and ATCS can be utilized to improve transportation services in Papua and its surroundings.
