World Superbike Event At Mandalika Circuit Postponed By One Week
JAKARTA - The final series of the World Superbike world championship season, which will be held at the Mandalika Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara, has been postponed one week from the original schedule from 19-21 November.
The Mandalika Grand Prix Association as the organizer, revealed that one of the reasons for the postponement of the WSBK racing event in Mandalika from the original date, which was November 12-14, was due to logistical considerations and delivery of goods.
"In addition, this race has been postponed not only due to technical factors, but also so that its implementation does not coincide with the MotoGP final which will take place in Valencia," said MGPA as quoted by Antara, Saturday, September 25.
The return of the WSBK series to Indonesia, since the last time it hosted it in 1994-1997, is certainly eagerly awaited by fans who have a strong base in the country.
Not only that, the Mandalika Circuit will host the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup for the first time, which is also managed by the Dorna Group, on November 12-14.
"This is a milestone for Mandalika International Street Circuit as the host of World SBK and IATC, and it is the most important thing for Dorna Group to always work together and establish relationships with Indonesia through the MGPA promoter," the MGPA statement said.
Turkey's Toprak Razgatlioglu (Yamaha) currently leads the drivers' standings with 399 points, one point ahead of Briton Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki) and compatriot Scott Redding (Ducati) with 339 points heading into the last four draws of the season.
Meanwhile, the asphalt work on the Mandalika Circuit track was completed in mid-August, and the 4.3km long circuit is also being prepared to host MotoGP next year.
Although the 2022 MotoGP calendar has not yet been released by Dorna Sports, the Mandalika Circuit has received a slot to host the MotoGP pre-season test on February 11-13, one week after the first pre-season test in Sepang, Malaysia.
