Many RPTRAs In Jakarta Are Abandoned, Many Children's Play Facilities Are Damaged

JAKARTA - Head of the Empowerment Section of the Central Jakarta Child Protection and Population Control (PPAPP) Empowerment Sub-department, Bangun Manalu, acknowledged that many Child Friendly Integrated Public Spaces (RPTRA) in Central Jakarta were damaged during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Based on data collected from RPTRA guards, the damage to facilities includes children's play facilities, benches, CCTV, air conditioning and other components," he said when contacted by VOI, Saturday, September 25.

According to Bangun, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the existence of RPTRA began to be 'deactivated'. Because the government is focused on handling COVID-19.

Moreover, the maintenance budget in the kelurahan has been slashed for handling COVID-19 in Jakarta.

"We ask the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to pay attention to the condition of the RPTRA. There are 50 RPTRAs whose conditions are already alarming," he said.

As is known, almost all RPTRAs in Central Jakarta are in dilapidated condition. RPTRA maintenance by the authorities is not running optimally.
