Unexpectedly, The House Of Representatives Ethics Council Asked Firli Bahuri To Explain The Reason For The Forced Pick-up Of Azis Syamsuddin
JAKARTA - The House of Representatives' Honorary Court (MKD) did not expect that Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, was forcibly picked up by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at his residence in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.
Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Honorary Court (MKD) Trimedya Panjaitan said Azis' arrest tonight was beyond expectations. Because, so far, Azis is known to have never been absent from summons at the KPK. "Yes, it's outside (allegedly, red). We don't know whether he was ever uncooperative or not. Right now, the summons for Azis is open. We don't know how many calls this is, if the pick-up is then this is the third summons," said Trimedya to reporters, Friday, September 24, evening. Therefore, the member of Commission III of the DPR asked the Chairman of the KPK, Firli Bahuri, to clearly explain the legal process carried out by Azis Syamsuddin until the forced pick-up was carried out. So that public speculation against the KPK leadership can be refuted.
"That's why Pak Firli or other KPK leaders, later or tomorrow must explain. So that on the one hand the community appreciates, (why, red) people like Pak Azis are picked up," explained Trimedya.
As for what Firli Bahuri needs to explain, Trimedya said, namely how many times has Azis been summoned, and his legal status. "Yes, we know the trend is now being invited, witnesses, then TSK (suspect, ed) and then detained because it is considered that if called TSK immediately avoids. If the witness is considered safe then just come. Because that must be explained, "said the PDIP politician. .
Nevertheless, continued Trimedya, the MKD respects the law enforcement process that is running at the KPK. Meanwhile, the DPR's ethics board is still waiting to determine the legal status of the Deputy Chairperson of the DPR for Korpolkam.
"We are observing the case of Mr. Azis 3-4 months. We have received complaints from the public and the status of the complaints has been verified by experts. We just need to schedule and call the defendants because we don't want our steps to be different from the legal process. Because the sanctions in the MKD are from the lightest, verbal to dismissal," he explained. "We gave a warning and then (for example) he was a suspect (his status), we have to follow the development of the case. We are quite careful in this case. We don't know what status he was picked up in," he continued. The MKD, added Trimedya, also cannot change the leadership of the DPR, if Azis' status has been determined as a suspect. This is because the change is under the authority of the Faction, not the MKD, in this case the Golkar Faction.
"If a suspect is determined, then a few days later Mr. Azis resigns. Azis is a doctor of law, he is a senior politician," he said.
