Kadin Asks US Ambassador Rosan Roeslani To Increase Indonesia-United States 'Familiarity' Through Increased Exports
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has officially appointed the former chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Rosan Perkasa Roeslani as Indonesia's ambassador to the United States (US). With this appointment, entrepreneurs who are members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry asked Rosan to boost exports to Uncle Sam's country.
Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Arsjad Rasjid said he was proud of Rosan Roeslani's achievements. This is because during his tenure as chairman of Kadin, Rosan's performance was considered very good. Rosan has also succeeded in building a better employers' organization.
"The relationship between Indonesia and the US so far has only reached 10 percent. How can we increase these exports and we hope that we can become closer as a nation and state," he said at the 53rd Kadin Anniversary, Friday, September 24.
In the future, said Arsjad, Rosan's mandate will not be easy. This is because the dynamics of the global economy are currently in a heated condition. Several big countries such as the US, China and Russia are carrying out a trade war that is not yet known until when it will end.
However, Arsjad said he was optimistic that Rosan would be able to boost exports of Indonesian products to the United States.
"The world condition that I have now said is a world war without us realizing it. We are already at war because if you look at the US and China at war, how Russia is now going to war without using a rifle (weapons) but using the economy, using money. So that is what is happening now at that time. this," he said.
For information, based on data from the Central Statistics Agency, the US became the second non-oil and gas export destination after China with a value of 11.51 billion US dollars in the first semester of 2021. This value increased 34.22 percent from January to June 2020 which amounted to 8, 59 billion US dollars.
On the same occasion, the Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Rosan Roeslani promised to become an ambassador who could also represent Indonesian businessmen. According to Rosan, he is Kadin stationed in America.
"Even though I will be placed insha Allah in the US as an ambassador, whatever I can do, whatever I can facilitate with my abilities that I have for the benefit of Kadin, for the benefit of associations, and also for the benefit of the business world, of course I will do it as much as possible. , said Rosan.
According to Rosan, during the COVID-19 pandemic which does not provide certainty, it is necessary to emphasize taking care of each other. He said, by taking care of each other, they will become stronger and better in facing the various challenges ahead.
"Because again, we are all one big family, as the general chairman said earlier that the family of course we will take care of each other, love, then make the best for the benefit of not only Kadin, associations and the business world. I strongly believe in the future Kadin will better," he said.
