JAYAPURA - Mimika Police Chief AKBP Era Adhinata ensured that the Papua PON in Mimika took place safely, including when XX PON athletes arrived in Timika.
Athletes and officials began arriving to Timika, including 18 rock climbing athletes from Jambi, eight West Kalimantan athletes, 16 from Bali, 15 from DKI Jakarta, and 12 judo and rock climbing athletes from Aceh.
The police ensured that during the PON it would be strictly guarded so that the event ran smoothly.
"I ensure that the implementation of PON XX in Timika will run in a safe, orderly and smooth manner and all personnel are deployed to secure it from various security disturbances," Era said as quoted by Antara, Friday, September 24.
Era stated that strict security was given to provide security and ensure that there were no significant disturbances to the Papua PON.
"As the host, we strive to provide a sense of security to athletes and officials during the XX PON in Timika," said Era.
12 sports will be competed in Timika. the twelve are aeromodeling, kite flying, skydiving, athletics, 5x5 basketball, 3x3 basketball, rock climbing, billiards, handball, futsal, judo and tarung drajat.
