Kemendikbudristek Data: 156 Students And 222 Teachers Are Still Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) recorded hundreds of positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 in students, teachers, and education personnel who are still active.

Director General of Early Childhood Education, Primary and Secondary Education (Paud Dikdasmen) Kemendikbudristek, Jumeri said, there were 156 active cases of COVID-19 in students and 222 teachers.

"So indeed there are active cases in the education unit, for educators and education personnel who reported COVID-19 there were 222 people. Then there were 156 students who reported COVID-19," said Jumeri in a webinar discussion, Friday, September 24.

Jumeri then clarified about the data that had been released on the official website of the Ministry of Education and Culture. In that data, there were findings of COVID-19 cases in 15,429 students and 7,307.

According to Jumeri, the data is not data on COVID-19 cases in schools during the implementation of Limited PTM during the PPKM leveling which was only running a few months ago. The data is an accumulation from last July 2020 when the government began to allow face-to-face learning in a number of regions.

"This figure is not the accumulation of the implementation of limited PTM after PPKM Level 1-3. It is an accumulation since July 2020 or the 2020/2021 school year until the 2021/2022 school year this September," he explained.

In fact, Jumeri emphasized that the data findings came from reports from educational units that had not been verified.

"There are still a lot of errors and they haven't been verified. For example, someone inputted the number of positive teacher reports that exceeded the number of teachers in the school. That's not possible. We need to provide clarification on that number," said Jumeri.
