Broken Sidewalk, PDAM Pipeline Excavation At KBC Mataram Is Stopped By Provincial Government

MATARAM - The Mataram City Government, West Nusa Tenggara Province, has temporarily suspended excavation activities for the rejuvenation of pipes belonging to the Giri Winning Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM), in the Cakranegara Business Area (KBC).

Where due to the excavation, sidewalks and a number of other facilities were damaged. The provincial government asked the PDAM to make repairs before continuing the excavation.

"The solution, we ask the PDAM to temporarily stop the excavation activities and then recondition the sidewalks and other facilities affected by the excavation," said Mataram City Secretary H Effendi Eko Saswito in Mataram, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 24.

He said, the PDAM agreed to the termination and signed a letter of agreement. After the PDAM has reconditioned, the pipe renovation excavation activities can be resumed.

"It's just that the excavation is carried out on the side of the road, so as not to damage the sidewalks that have been arranged in such a way," he said.

The Regional Secretary hopes that in the future when there is a similar activity, the PDAM can coordinate with the Mataram City Government, because the sidewalk is an asset that has been handed over to the Mataram City Government.

"To carry out the excavation, the PDAM has indeed received a permit from the provincial government, but the province and PDAM have never coordinated with us," he said. Meanwhile, President Director of PDAM Giri Wins H Lalu Ahmad Zaini confirmed that his party is committed to reconditioning the excavation which has an impact on pavement damage.

"We will immediately recondition. So anything that is damaged will be returned to its original state so that excavation activities can resume immediately," he said.

It is said, the pipeline renovation is targeted to be completed in November 2021 or before the implementation of the WSBK (word superbike) which will take place 12-14 November 2021 at the Mandalika circuit, Central Lombok Regency.

According to him, the renovation of the water pipe is intended to prevent demolition in the middle of the road due to damage, so that the city can be more beautiful afterward.

"The pipe replacement activity is planned to start from Jalan Selaparang Cakranegara, to 'Jebak Belek' Jalan Langko," said Lalu Ahmad Zaini.
