Nekes Gerald Sokoy Will Be Handed Over By KKB Lamek Taplo Through The Church? Papuan Police Chief: Not Confirmed
PAPUA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri admitted that the fate of a health worker named Gerald Sokoy has yet to be confirmed. The statement by Kapolda Fakhiri followed a photo circulating on social media showing Sokoy with armed gangs in Kiwirok.
Until now there has been no definite information about Sokoy, who was said to be busy with the armed gang in the Kiwirok District, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua.
"We cannot confirm whether the person concerned is with the KKB or not and what his condition is," said Fakhiri, Antara, Jayapura, Friday, September 24.
From the information circulating on social media, it was also revealed that the armed gang led by Lamek Taplo would hand over Sokoy to his family through the church, but when until now there is no certainty.
The TNI and police in the Kiwirok District have not yet been able to confirm the truth of the news. From the search results since there was a shootout and the burning of a number of facilities, no signs of Sokoy's whereabouts were found.
"The search around Kiwirok (District) has been carried out but so far they have not been found," said Fakhiri.
Separately, Danrem 172/PWY, Brigadier General Izak Pangemanan conveyed the same thing. He could not confirm the whereabouts and condition of Sokoy.
"If it is true that he was with them after being found while saving himself, then we will wait for a statement from them, who will hand it over to the church," Pangemanan said.
