The Governor Of Southeast Sulawesi's Response To The Case Of The Regent Of Kolaka Andi Merya At The KPK

KENDARI - The Governor of Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) Ali Mazi emphasized that his party had handed over the case of the East Kolaka Regent Andi Merya Nur to legal proceedings after being arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"That (the case of the East Kolaka Regent, ed) we submit to the law, so that it will be processed legally," said Ali Mazi, in Kendari, as reported by Antara, Friday, September 24.

The Governor of Southeast Sulawesi did not comment much on the case, because according to him, his party as a government only works to serve the people. "We are the government, working for the people," he said.

Ali Mazi appealed to all regional heads of regents/mayors to work as well as possible in serving the community based on the provisions and applicable laws and regulations.

"We work for the people, for the community. We work for the best. We are given the mandate of course for the benefit of the community," said Ali Mazi.

Regarding the KPK OTT against the East Kolaka Regent Andi Merya Nur, the Southeast Sulawesi Governor admitted that currently the leadership in the district is filled by the daily executor (plh) namely the local Regional Secretary (Sekda).

"Plh (which contains) the Regional Secretary, later after one week we will evaluate and consult with the Minister of Home Affairs," said the Governor.

He said that until now there has been no name that will be proposed to be the Acting (Pj) Regent of East Kolaka. "Because I first asked and wrote to the Minister of Home Affairs, what instructions will we carry out from the Minister of Home Affairs," said Ali Mazi. Previously, on Tuesday, September 21 at around 8 p.m. WITA, the KPK carried out an arrest operation against East Kolaka Regent Andi Merya Nur (AMN) together five other people in East Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.

In this case, the KPK has named two suspects, namely the Regent and Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Kolaka Regency (AZR).

The KPK named the two suspects related to two work projects in East Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, which came from a grant from the National Disaster Management Agency for East Kolaka Regency.

For the project, the East Kolaka Regent allegedly asked for Rp250 million from the head of the local BPBD.

"As a realization of the agreement, AMN allegedly asked for Rp250 million for the two work projects that AZR will get," said KPK Deputy Chair Nurul Ghufron during a press conference at the KPK Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (22/9).
