Facebook Tightens Post Rules To Prevent Clickbait And Sensational Messages
JAKARTA - Facebook Inc on Thursday, September 23, said it had reduced the distribution of certain content including clickbait, posts with "sensationalist" health claims or excessive or low-quality videos in its news feed.
They outlined its content guidelines as the social media platform faces increased scrutiny over how it displays content to its users.
In a blog post, Facebook said it had been trying to provide clarity about the downgraded content in the news feed. Facebook said some of the downgrades were based on user feedback.
The post comes after the Wall Street Journal reported last week that efforts to change content algorithms to increase "meaningful social engagement" ended in posts with outrage or sensationalism.
Facebook said it also took down content from news publishers that users rated as untrusted in surveys and content posted by pages or accounts that repeatedly violated its rules.
It is hoped that this way posts on Facebook will not be excessive, and contain misinformation that is usually done by well-known influencers, including public figures. Facebook wants to make its social media environment look fair and equitable to everyone.
