Towards The End Of The Year, DPR Speaker Puan Maharani Warns Not To Let COVID-19 Cases Spike Again

JAKARTA - Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, has warned the government to be aware of a surge in COVID-19 cases occurring at the end of the year. One of them is by accelerating the distribution of vaccinations.

"It will soon be New Year, as well as Christmas. In our experience at major holidays, even though there are restrictions on mobility, there is still a significant flow of people. As a result, there has been a spike in cases," said Puan, Friday, September 24.

According to Puan, vaccination must be boosted again until it reaches herd immunity, which is accompanied by the implementation of strict health protocols. Along, the mobility of citizens has increased like Jabodetabek.

The former coordinating minister for PMK also reminded that all parties must be aware of the threat of a third wave of COVID-19 which is predicted to occur in December.

"Don't let the spike in COVID-19 cases happen again like last June-August," said Puan.
