Hoping To Learn From Angelo Alessio, Persela Coach: His Presence Raises The Dignity And Dignity Of Indonesian Football
JAKARTA - Persela coach Iwan Setiawan said the presence of Persija tactician Angelo Alessio in Indonesia raised the dignity of Indonesian football.
"I think the presence of Angelo Alessio indirectly raises the dignity of Indonesian football in the eyes of the international community," Iwan said in a virtual press conference Thursday night, reported by Antara.
The reason, he continued, is none other than Alessio's experience dealing with European teams both as coach and assistant coach.
Alessio's name became famous after accompanying the famous Italian coach, Antonio Conte, as an assistant coach from 2010-2018.
While with Conte, Alessio also contributed various titles to his team. They brought Juventus three-time Italian League champions and two-time Italian Super Cup champions. Furthermore, Chelsea brought once the Premier League champion and one-time FA Cup champion.
With that much experience, Iwan Setiawan believes Alessio has a lot to share with coaches in Indonesia.
"Hopefully his presence in Indonesia will be a positive value. We, Indonesian coaches, can learn from him," said the 53-year-old man.
Alessio was recruited by Persija in mid-2021 with the target of winning Liga 1.
However, until the third week of Liga 1 2021/22, Persija have not tasted victory at all. Of the three matches that have been passed, the Kemayoran Tigers were only able to make three draws.
Persija will face Persela in the 2021-2022 Indonesian Liga 1 continued at the Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong, Friday, starting at 20.30 WIB.
In contrast to Persija, Persela has tasted one victory in the first three matches of Liga 1 2021-2022. However, in the other two matches, "Laskar Joko Tingkir" had to lose.
Based on the meeting notes, since 2007, Persija and Persela have faced off 24 times. Persija dominated the encounter with 10 wins. Persela "only" was able to beat his opponent five times.
