Clubhouse Launches “Waving” Feature To Attract Users' Attention

JAKARTA - The social audio app from the United States, Clubhouse launched a new feature on Thursday 23 September that allows users to virtually wave to friends within the audio chat app. This is also to show that they are open to private chat. This feature is their attempt to expand the network beyond the public sphere that can have thousands of listeners.

“Clubhouse, which pioneered the “social audio” feature that has since been emulated by Facebook and Twitter, wanted to allow users to have private chats, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Paul Davison told Reuters.

"A lot of people get to know us for larger conversations, but the reason people stick around for so long is that they find friends and meet new people," he said in an interview.

Clubhouse users, backed by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, can "wave" to friends online in the app and private audio chat rooms, which will open when someone accepts the wave or invitation.

Users can then invite more contacts or friends to a private room, or choose to open the chat to the public, Clubhouse said.

This feature is expected to make Clubhouse more popular and invite more people to be involved in this social audio platform.
