Medan Police Arrest Perpetrators Of Dating Mode Extortion In MiChat Online Application
JAKARTA - The Medan Sector Police Helvetia, the ranks of the Medan Polrestabes, North Sumatra arrested perpetrators of fraud and extortion with the mode of offering dating services through online applications.
"One female perpetrator with the initials M has been arrested, while a partner with the initials GT is still being chased," said Medan Police Chief Helvetia Kompol Pardamean Hutahaean, as reported by Antara, Thursday, September 24.
The fraud case began when the victim with the initials I ordered a dating service with perpetrator M through the MiChat application.
Then the perpetrator and the victim agreed to meet on Tuesday, September 14 at around 21.30 WIB on Jalan Captain Muslim, Medan.
The booking price agreed between the perpetrator and the victim is IDR 750 thousand. But if the victim asks to cancel, then he has to pay Rp. 250 thousand.
When the victim met the perpetrator, the victim was surprised and disappointed because the face did not match the MiChat application, so the victim canceled the service and gave Rp150,000 to the perpetrator.
Because the agreement did not match, there was a commotion between the victim and the perpetrator. But the victim finally relented and gave the rest of the money he lacked.
When the victim was about to leave the location, perpetrator M took the perpetrator's cellphone as collateral for the room money that had been ordered for Rp. 300 thousand.
"Out of anger, the victim left the perpetrator," he said.
Next, the perpetrator gave the cellphone to his colleague GT. Not long after, the victim came with his friend to redeem the cellphone.
But the deal has changed again. At that time, the GP asked the victim for a room rent of Rp. 1,250,000.
The victim who felt he had been cheated then reported the incident to the Medan Helvetia Police.
Based on this report, officers conducted an investigation and managed to secure the perpetrator M on Tuesday, September 21 at a boarding house on Jalan Captain Muslim.
The perpetrator is subject to Article 365 Paragraph (1) Subs Article 363 Paragraph (1) to 4e of the Criminal Code of the Criminal Code and the threat of imprisonment for 9 years.
"Meanwhile, we will pursue GT perpetrators and if they are not cooperative, we will take firm and measured action," said the police chief.
