Lumajang Regent Cak Thoriq Asks KPK To Assist In Managing Sand Mine

LUMAJANG - The Regent of Lumajang Thoriqul Haq (Cak Thoriq) requested assistance from the KPK to manage sand mining in Lumajang Regency, East Java. Assistance is intended to prevent potential acts of corruption from occurring.

"We ask for assistance from the KPK so that the innovations carried out by the Lumajang Regency Government do not violate existing regulations, especially those related to sand mining," Thoriq said during a monitoring and evaluation coordination meeting of the Monitoring Center Of Prevention (MCP) with the KPK team in Lumajang. 23 September.

Cak Thoriq said there are 59 licensed sand miners, 50 of whom are active, 1 permit miner dies, while the rest do not carry out mining activities, so the potential tax revenue from sand mining is assumed to reach Rp35 billion.

"Hopefully we innovate to serve the community well but with good and correct procedures, we ask for assistance related to our innovation matters, especially regarding sand mining," he said.

To maximize sand mining tax revenue, the Lumajang Regency Government is currently building an integrated stockpile to improve sand mining management in Lumajang Regency.

Meanwhile, the Director of Coordination and Supervision of Region III KPK Brigadier General Bahtiar Ujang Purnama explained that his arrival in Lumajang Regency was in order to carry out two-way communication with both local governments and local non-government agencies in accordance with the function of supervising local government governance.

"How are local government efforts to eliminate various potential acts of corruption," he said.

He explained that the KPK is mapping eight areas of local government intervention that are the focus of corruption prevention, starting from planning and budgeting regional budgets, procurement of goods and services, optimizing regional revenues, ASN management, asset management, strengthening APIP supervision, managing village funds and public services.

"For that, I hope that the government is serious about tackling and fighting corruption in the regions with the eight regional government intervention areas," he said.
