Bogor Police Arrest Suspect In Fraud Investment Case

BOGOR - Bogor Police, West Java, arrested a man with the initials IR (32) as a suspect in a fraudulent investment case.

"The modus operandi of the perpetrators is to collect funds from the public with an investment mode. These customers are promised a profit of 40 percent every month," said Bogor Police Chief, AKBP Harun, quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 23.

According to him, IR was secured for cases of fraudulent investment, fraud and embezzlement of funds against the public in the form of deposits without a business license from Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

The suspect admitted that he had carried out fraudulent investments since October 2019 with investors who were relatives, neighbors and family.

"On average, these investors make investments ranging from Rp. 2 million to Rp. 5 million. These investors are promised a profit of 40 percent of the total investment each month. So many people are interested in investing," said Harun.

In addition to the fraudulent investment mode, IRs also carry out other modes, namely the social gathering for groceries. The total number of IR investors armed with cooperatives is 837 members with a total cash amount of IDR 23.4 billion.

"Initially the perpetrator's mode was smooth. Because he often traded at Binomo and kept losing, the perpetrator finally lost Rp. 2 billion, which affected his fraudulent investment mode," he said.

The suspect IR is threatened with snaring Article 378 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) and Article 372 of the Criminal Code.
