GARUT - Garut Police sent a number of personnel from the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) of the West Java Police to search for a missing teenage climber on Mount Guntur, Garut, West Java.
"A team from Brimob has been dispatched to look for the missing victims on Mount Guntur," said Tarogong Police Chief Kaler Iptu Masrokan, quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 23.
He said a team from Brimob joined the SAR team from Basarnas, TNI, BKSDA, and local community volunteers to search for victim Muhammad Gibran Arrasyid (14), a resident of Kampung/Citangtu Village who had been missing since, Sunday, September 19.
The joint team, he said, with complete equipment and knowledge of search techniques for people in the forest area tried to search by combing from the bottom to the top.
"Today the search was carried out by combing from the bottom up, while the results were that the victim had not been found," he said.
The police chief said that the fourth day of the search went smoothly, supported by quite sunny weather, even though it was getting cloudy in the evening until it was temporarily postponed and resumed tomorrow.
During the search, he said, they did not find any indications or traces that lead to the whereabouts of the victim.
"There are no signs yet, that's all the victim's belongings are still in the tent," said Iptu Masrokan.
Previously, the victim and a climbing group of 14 people climbed Mount Guntur, Saturday, September 18 afternoon, then camped at Post 3 to rest and continue climbing the next day.
However, when going to climb again, the victim prefers not to continue the journey to the top and stays at Post 3. After his friend descends, the victim is not in the tent, the victim's belongings or equipment are still in place.
Officers who have been searching for several days have not found any bright spots or other indications that could indicate the whereabouts of the victim on Mount Guntur.
