Again, Johnny Depp Considers Himself A Victim Of Cancel Culture

JAKARTA - Actor Johnny Depp considers himself a victim of cancel culture in Hollywood. He made this statement at the San Sebastian Film Festival on Wednesday, September 22.

According to him, after he lost to the defamation case from The Sun, he did not get great support from the public.

"A complex situation, cancel culture is like a rush to judge something," Johnny Depp was quoted as saying by The Hollywood Reporter.

Because of the cancel culture, he felt his career was starting to crumble. "I'm not the only one who experienced this incident. This has happened to both men and women. A lot of people think this is normal but it's not."

In August, Johnny Depp made a similar statement after his latest film, Minamata, did not release in the United States. The director of this film also does not know why this film was not released in Hollywood.

Previously, Depp sued The Sun media for calling himself a "wife beater" which led to the treatment of his ex-wife, Amber Heard. Unfortunately, Johnny Depp lost the trial.

Because of that, he was also asked to step down from the production of Fantastic Beasts 3 years ago. Depp also received criticism when he received the Donostia Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival. The Donostia Award is an award for the achievements of an actor in the world of cinema.
